Despite the challenges faced during this crucial time of the pandemic, many educators and students have taken their learning to another level. The virtual platform is now being used widely to cater to the academic and co-curricular needs of the young learners, in this scenario. Some of the schools have started using the Zoom platform and also Google meet to communicate and make the most of their time away from the physical classroom.

So here I am today, sharing 5 tips for parents to keep in mind during the virtual learning

1. Help your child fix a routine and in maintaining it.

Try to treat the school days as you would when the child was attending school. Proper breaks, time allotments, and even the meals (breakfast, lunch) should be taken care of.

2. Encourage physical activity and exercise.

You should encourage your child to do any physical activity as they sit in front of the computer for long during the classes. Proper breaks and stretching activities should be aided. Any physical activity like jumping jacks will help!

3. Resist the urge to sit along with your child during the classes.

While it may be tempting to “pop in” on classes for your child, please respect their privacy and that of other students. Connect with the faculty and staff before or after class hours via email or other means of communication.

4. Check with your child’s guide or teacher.

Teachers are generally more than ready to interface with guardians by means of email or telephone. Check-in if your child is experiencing issues dealing with the virtual learning sessions and platforms or keeping focused. Be keeping watch for any correspondences from educators demonstrating that they are experiencing difficulty interfacing with your kid during this time.

5. Take care of your own self.

The most important of all is that in the current situation is to take care of yourself. Being in good health helps to have a great mindset. And a great mindset spreads positivity and light, which is the need of the hour.

I would like to add that it is advised to not compromise on the discipline and the practices that we want to inculcate in the children. Degrees and achievement are just a part of our lives, but the character is what makes us better humans. Guiding them is the best we can do.

Stay home! Stay safe! Happy Learning!
